A vehicle may require ADAS calibration when a repair changes—or could change—the position, angle, mounting, or reference geometry of a camera, radar unit, or sensor. Calibration may also be required because a manufacturer procedure specifically calls for it after a part is removed, replaced, disconnected, adjusted, or repaired. A warning light is not required for a calibration requirement to exist.
WHY THERE MAY BE NO WARNING LIGHT
A diagnostic trouble code reports a condition the vehicle can detect. It does not determine whether a repair procedure requires calibration. A camera or radar unit can remain online while its aim or learned reference is no longer correct for the repaired vehicle.
